Fervent fans of the Cartoon Network hit Steven Universe have been clamoring to know when the show will comes back after its recent run of daily new episodes. Rejoice fellow SU fans, the official Steven Universe Tumblr has listed the return date as August 6th.

For those who don't know what Steven Universe is, it's basically a kids show on Cartoon Network starring a joyful boy named Steven Universe who lives with alien entities known as the Crystal Gems. They go on adventures fighting villains or just explore their town and interact with the townsfolk. So why is it such a big deal?

"It's clearly evident that SU is making statements and delivering strong emotional episodes in the guise of a children's cartoon"

Its easy for online fan communities to latch onto a children's show and attach far too much meaning and importance to what is happening on screen. Most kids shows are just that. Kids shows with some light morals and themes sprinkled throughout. Steven Universe is different. It's clearly evident that SU is making statements and delivering strong emotional episodes in the guise of a children's cartoon show. Themes like family, trust, betrayal, love are strongly presented within each 11 minute episode. The amount of complexity and depth found within the characters is unusual for this format and medium and that is what has grabbed the hearts and attention of so many fans, including myself. Also, it has one of the catchiest intro songs I have ever heard. That's something else to note. The show has amazing music that manages to stick with viewers.

The show has a pleasing look, but it doesn't exactly stand up against heavy weight's like The Legend of Korra or the higher end stuff coming out of Japan. Steven Universe is also a bit of a slow build. Watch the first episode and you see a glimmer of what people are talking about, but it's hard to see what is so special about the show. It takes a few episodes to really see what SU is all about . Luckily , the episodes are short and you can breeze through a handful pretty quickly. That helps getting through the early episodes, which are enjoyable, but the real meat of the show lies within the overarching plot involving Steven and his quest to master his powers passed down to him by his now dead mother.

The show has been phenomenal thus far and fans can expect to see more on August 6th. I'' need to have my gemsona ready by then.

I'm able to eat 25 Mcnuggets in a row and maintain total composure. It's important to note that I have zero useful skills and will be the third to perish once the country runs out of corn syrup and the end days begin. I have zero allegiances to any gaming company or platform and go where the games are. Anime is my domain and I am a lower tier noble with hopes of becoming a duke. Oh, and I kinda started the site and trick- I mean, convinced some friends into helping.
