The widely used Qualcomm chip has seen wide adoption and seeks to continue this trend with the Snapdragon 820. Now we have new details coming through some leaks provided by Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang.
The allegedly leaked slides show a marginally more powerful chipset compared to the Snapdragon 810. The newly featured Hydra CPU (insert Marvel joke here) is apparently 35 percent faster in comparison to its predecessor. That's not the only improvement with the inclusion of an Adreno 530 GPU which supposedly achieves a 40 percent performance increase in graphics for the ever expanding mobile gaming market. The manufacturing process has improved from 20nm in the 810 series to 14nm for the 820's. The new chipset will also include what is described as a " dedicated low-power sensor for emerging always-on use-cases". This and improved security will be the biggest additions to the 820's which Pan Jiutand alleges will make its debut in a new phone by Xiaomi.
The improvements in the mobile market will continue to grow with rival chip makers also planning their own chips for mobile devices. The Snapdragon might see an official announcement from Qualcomm sometime next week.
