It seems that Final Fantasy XV Director , Hajime Tabata recently told Gamespot that the game will be out before 2017. Skeptical fans put down your flaming torches and pitchforks, lets wait and see if they can deliver.
Square Enix has been asked repeatedly about the release date for the highly anticipated game and Tabata has replied, "At the very least, I can tell you that it isn't going to be released this year. I think we'll be able to tell you when we're making the announcement around PAX Prime, at the end of this month.". Hopefully Tabata's statement rings true and we'll see something from PAX. Then again, Square Enix is known for making announcements that announce announcements.
"We can certainly say to people: it's not going to be 2017. It's going to be before that"
Square Enix was at Gamescom, but really didn't reveal any new information which always worries fans. Especially when it comes to Square Enix which is notorious for going silent on games and hyping things up years before a games release. After all, Final Fantasy XV was originally planned for the PS3 and titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII and was delayed so long that it skipped the entire console generation. When asked about their weak showing, Tabata said, "We can certainly say to people: it's not going to be 2017. It's going to be before that".
Square Enix seems to be stretching itself thin with the release of Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake for current gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. All I can say is that I can't wait to play these games...on my PS6.
