If you were looking forward to the sequel for Guillermo del Toro's love letter to kaiju films then you'll have to wait. The Hollywood Reporter magazine has reported that Pacific Rim 2 has been "halted indefinitely." The sequel has been slated for April 2017 and then was pushed back to August 2017.
The 2013 film was distributed by Warner Brothers and co-financed and co-produced by Legendary Pictures. Legendary Pictures recently signed off on a five-year production and financing deal with Universal Pictures, but talk around town says their business relationship is already troubled.
